My name is Tom Hedgepeth. I'm a Christian and an architect with over thirty years practice in both the private and public sectors. This makes for an interesting perspective that you'll find most useful during the course of your church project.

The first fifteen years of my professional life was spent in private practice as a project architect designing office buildings, apartment complexes, shopping centers, schools, churches, custom residences, and just about everything else you can imagine. I was a pretty typical provider of architectural services to a very broad client base.

The second fifteen years (plus) of my professional life has been spent as exactly the opposite - a consumer of professional architectural services.

Since 1991 I have served as project manager and owner's representative for a large state government agency in Virginia, managing construction projects and over a million square feet of commercial office space during that time.

The opportunity to serve as a member of the building committee for my own church, advising the chairman in the various ways of architectural "things", made me aware of the need in the church going community for the kinds of information available here.

This website exists first to provide the kind of information that you can use to manage your own church design and construction project successfully and effectively.

But this is not just a membership website - its' larger purpose is to foster a church design and construction community in which every member's experiences and solutions are incorporated into the content available to everyone, that each might approach their own project with as full and complete a set of tools as possible.
